Paragraph 1
(Lu 4:22)
22
And all spoke well of him, and wondered at the gracious words which
proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, "Is not this
Joseph's son?"
(Joh 7:32, 45-46)
32
The Pharisees heard the crowd thus muttering about him, and the
chief
priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
. . .
45
The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who
said to them, "Why
did you not bring him?"
46
The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!"
Paragraph 2
(Mr 3:9)
9
And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of
the crowd, lest
they should crush him;
(Mr 4:1)
1
Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd
gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea;
and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the
land.
(Lu 5:1-3)
1
While the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he was
standing by the
lake of Gennes'aret.
2
And he saw two boats by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of
them
and were washing their nets.
3
Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to
put out a little from the land. And he sat down
and taught the people from the boat.
(Mr 8:1-2)
1
In those days, when again a great crowd had gathered, and they had
nothing to eat,
he called his disciples to him, and said to them,
2
"I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now
three days, and have
nothing to eat;
Paragraph 4
(Ac 4:13)
13
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived
that they were uneducated, common men, they wondered; and
they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

Paragraph 5
(Mt 5:27-32)
27
"You have heard that it was said, `You shall not commit adultery.'
28
But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has
already committed adultery with her
in his heart.
29
If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it
away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that
your whole body be thrown into hell.
30
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it
away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole
body go into
hell.
31
"It was also said, `Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a
certificate of divorce.'
32
But I say to you that every one who divorces his wife, except on
the ground of unchastity, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries a
divorced
woman commits adultery.
(Mt 6:19-34)
19
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and
rust consume
and where thieves break in and steal,
20
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth
nor rust consumes and where
thieves do not break in and steal.
21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22
"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole
body will be full of light;
23
but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of
darkness. If then the light in you is
darkness, how great is the darkness!
24
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and
love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve
God and mammon.
25
"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you
shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put
on. Is not life more than food,
and the body more than clothing?
26
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather
into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more
value
than they?
27
And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life?
28
And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the
field, how they grow;
they neither toil nor spin;
29
yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like
one
of these.
30
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive
and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more
|
clothe you, O men of little faith?
31
Therefore do not be anxious, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What
shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?'
32
For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father
knows that you need them
all.
33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these
things shall be yours
as well.
34
"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be
anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for
the day.
Paragraph 7
(Mt 12:24-30)
24
But when the Pharisees heard it they said, "It is only by Be-el'zebul,
the prince
of demons, that this man casts out demons."
25
Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, "Every kingdom divided
against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself
will stand;
26
and if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how
then will his kingdom stand?
27
And if I cast out demons by Be-el'zebul, by whom do your sons cast
them out? Therefore
they shall be your judges.
28
But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the
kingdom of God has come upon you.
29
Or how can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods,
unless he first binds the strong man?
Then indeed he may plunder his house.
30
He who is not with me is against me, and he who
does not gather with me scatters.
(Mt 21:23-27)
23
And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of
the people came up to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority
are you doing these
things, and who gave you this authority?"
24
Jesus answered them, "I also will ask you a question; and if you
tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these
things.
25
The baptism of John, whence was it? From heaven or from men?" And
they argued with one another, "If we say, `From heaven,' he will say to
us, `Why then did you not believe
him?'
26
But if we say, `From men,' we are afraid of the multitude; for all
hold that John was a
prophet."
27
So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And he said to them,
"Neither will I tell
you by what authority I do these things.
|
(Mt 22:41-46)
41
Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a
question,
42
saying, "What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?" They
said to him, "The son
of David."
43
He said to them, "How is it then that David, inspired by the
Spirit, calls him Lord,
saying,
44
`The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I put thy
enemies under thy feet'?
45
If David thus calls him Lord, how is he his son?"
46
And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did any
one dare to ask
him any more questions.
Paragraph 10
(Lu 22:49)
49
And when those who were about him saw what would follow, they said,
"Lord,
shall we strike with the sword?"
Paragraph 14
(Le 11:4, 21-24)
4
Nevertheless among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you
shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud
but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.
. . .
21
Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those
which have legs above
their feet, with which to leap on the earth.
22
Of them you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald
locust according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the
grasshopper
according to its kind.
23
But all other winged insects which have four feet are an
abomination
to you.
24
"And by these you shall become unclean; whoever touches their
carcass shall be
unclean until the evening,
Paragraph 15
(Mt 17:20)
20
He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to
you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this
mountain, `Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be
impossible to
you."
(Mt 19:24)
24
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of
a needle than for
a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
