- Jesus Fortells Destruction of Temple - Disciples Ask For Signs |
|
Matthew 24:1-3
|
(Mt 24:1-3)
1
And Jesus went forth and went away from the temple, and his
disciples came to him to point out to him the buildings
of the temple.
2
And he answering said to them, Do ye not see all these things?
Verily I say to you, Not a stone shall be left here upon a stone
which shall not be thrown down.
3
And as he was sitting upon the mount of Olives the disciples
came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things
be, and what is the sign of thy coming and the completion
of the age?

|
Mark 13:1-4
|
(Mr 13:1-4)
1
And as he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples says
to him, Teacher, see what stones and what buildings!
2
And Jesus answering said to him, Seest thou these great
buildings? not a stone shall be left upon a stone, which shall
not be thrown down.
3
And as he sat on the mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter
and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
4
Tell us, when shall these things be, and what is the sign when
all these things are going to be fulfilled?
- DB |
|
Luke 21:5-7
|
(Lu 21:5-7)
5
And as some spoke of the temple, that it was adorned with goodly
stones and consecrated offerings, he said,
6
As to these things which ye are beholding, days are
coming in which there shall not be left stone upon stone which
shall not be thrown down.
7
And they asked him saying, Teacher, when then shall these things
be; and what is the sign when these things are going to
take place?

Matthew 24:4-8
|
(Mt 24:4-8)
4
And Jesus answering said to them, See that no one
mislead you.
5
For many shall come in my name, saying, *I* am the
Christ, and they shall mislead many.
6
But ye will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See
that ye be not disturbed; for all these things must take place, but it
is not yet the end.
7
For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against
kingdom; and there shall be famines and pestilences, and
earthquakes in divers places.
8
But all these are the beginning of throes.
- DB |
|
Mark 13:5-8
|
(Mr 13:5-8)
5
And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any one
mislead you.
6
For many shall come in my name, saying, It is *I*, and shall
mislead many.
7
But when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be not
disturbed, for this must happen, but the end is not yet.
8
For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against
kingdom; and there shall be earthquakes in different
places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these things
are the beginnings of throes.
- DB |
|
Luke 21:8-11
|
(Lu 21:8-11)
8
And he said, See that ye be not led astray, for many shall come
in my name, saying, *I* am he , and the time is drawn
nigh: go ye not therefore after them.
9
And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified,
for these things must first take place, but the end is not
immediately.
10
Then he said to them, Nation shall rise up against nation, and
kingdom against kingdom;
11
there shall be both great earthquakes in different places, and
famines and pestilences; and there shall be fearful sights and
great signs from heaven.

- Persecution and Betrayal - Endure to End - Good News of Kingdom
Preached Before End Comes |
|
Matthew 24:9-14
|
(Mt 24:9-14)
9
Then shall they deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill
you; and ye will be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.
10
And then will many be offended, and will deliver one another up,
and hate one another;
11
and many false prophets shall arise and shall mislead many;
12
and because lawlessness shall prevail, the love of the most
shall grow cold;
13
but he that has endured to the end, *he* shall be saved.
14
And these glad tidings of the kingdom shall be preached in the
whole habitable earth, for a witness to all the nations, and
then shall come the end.
- DB |
|
Mark 13:9-13
|
(Mr 13:9-13)
9
But *ye*, take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up
to sanhedrims and to synagogues: ye shall be beaten and brought
before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them;
10
and the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.
11
But when they shall lead you away to deliver you up, be not
careful beforehand as to what ye shall say, nor prepare your
discourse : but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour,
that speak; for *ye* are not the speakers, but the Holy Spirit.
12
But brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child;
and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be
put to death.
13
And ye will be hated of all on account of my name; but he that
has endured to the end, *he* shall be saved.
- DB |
|
Luke 21:12-19
|
(Lu 21:12-19)
12
But before all these things they shall lay their hands upon you
and persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and
prisons, bringing you before kings and governors on
account of my name;
13
but it shall turn out to you for a testimony.
14
Settle therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand
your defence,
15
for *I* will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your opposers
shall not be able to reply to or resist.
16
But ye will be delivered up even by parents and brethren and
relations and friends, and they shall put to death some
from among you,
17
and ye will be hated of all for my name's sake.
18
And a hair of your head shall in no wise perish.
19
By your patient endurance gain your souls.

Matthew 24:15-22
|
(Mt 24:15-22)
15
When therefore ye shall see the abomination of desolation, which
is spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in what is
a holy place, (he that reads let him understand,)
16
then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains;
17
let not him that is on the house come down to take the things
out of his house;
18
and let not him that is in the field turn back to take his
garment.
19
But woe to those that are with child, and those that give suck
in those days.
20
But pray that your flight may not be in winter time nor on
sabbath:
21
for then shall there be great tribulation, such as has not been
from the beginning of the world until now, nor
ever shall be;
22
and if those days had not been cut short, no flesh had been
saved; but on account of the elect those days shall be cut
short.
- DB |
|
Mark 13:14-20
|
(Mr 13:14-20)
14
But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation standing
where it should not, (he that reads let him consider it
,) then let those in Judaea flee to the mountains;
15
and him that is upon the housetop not come down into the house,
nor enter into it to take away anything out of his house;
16
and him that is in the field not return back to take his
garment.
17
But woe to those that are with child and to those that give suck
in those days!
18
And pray that it may not be in winter time;
19
for those days shall be distress such as there has not been the
like since the beginning of creation which God created,
until now, and never shall be;
20
and if the Lord had not cut short those days, no flesh
should have been saved; but on account of the elect whom he has
chosen, he has cut short those days.

Luke 21:20-24
|
(Lu 21:20-24)
20
But when ye see Jerusalem encompassed with armies, then know
that its desolation is drawn nigh.
21
Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains, and
those who are in the midst of it depart out, and those who are
in the country not enter into it;
22
for these are days of avenging, that all the things that are
written may be accomplished.
23
But woe to them that are with child and to them who give suck in
those days, for there shall be great distress upon the land and
wrath upon this people.
24
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive
into all the nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of
the nations until the times of the nations be
fulfilled.

- Warnings of False Prophets and Christs |
|
Matthew 24:23-28
|
(Mt 24:23-28)
23
Then if any one say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or here,
believe it not.
24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and
shall give great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if
possible, even the elect.
25
Behold, I have told you beforehand.
26
If therefore they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert, go
not forth; behold, he is in the inner chambers, do not
believe it .
27
For as the lightning goes forth from the east and shines to the
west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.
28
For wherever the carcase is, there will be gathered the
eagles.

|
Mark 13:21-23
|
(Mr 13:21-23)
21
And then if any one say to you, Lo, here is the Christ,
or Lo, there, believe it not.
22
For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and give signs
and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
23
But do *ye* take heed: behold, I have told you all things
beforehand.

25
And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the

the sea and rolling waves,
26
men ready to die through fear and expectation of what is coming
on the habitable earth, for the powers of the heavens shall be

power and great glory.
28
But when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up
your heads, because your redemption draws nigh.
