Use this
dialog to search for a word, phrase, or combination of words in a Bible. The
first verse containing found search words is displayed instantly as you type in
words to search for. There is no need to click on a "Find" button to
perform a search as is the case with other Bible search programs. See
Original Language Word Study for how to search for Greek words and Strong’s
numbers.
Verse Display Window
The right part of the dialog displays one or all verses containing found
search words.
Resizing the Dialog
This dialog can be resized by using the mouse and dragging on a side or corner.
The size and location of the dialog will be remembered the next time it is
displayed. The main reason for resizing this dialog is to increase or decrease
the size of the Verse Display Window to see more or less displayed verses.
Main Search Bible
Only one Bible can be searched at a time, the main search Bible. Use the
Bible Selection dropdown list, after “In:”
at the top of the dialog, to select the main Bible to search. To perform the
same search on other select a different Bible from the
Bible Selection dropdown list.
Parallel Bibles
Click on the Options button and select Parallel
Bibles to display a list of all available Bibles. Select one or more of
them to see their verses displayed alongside the search results of the Main
Bible. (Search words found in the parallel Bibles are not highlighted.)
Display Styles
Click on the Options button and select Display
Styles to select or change how Bible verses are displayed in the Verse
Display Window. The Bible Verses dialog will display. Click on its Text
button and select Found Words… to change the font
color and size used to highlight found search words.
Context Size
Click on the Options button and select Context
Size to specify the number of verses displayed before and after the verse
containing found search words.
Search
Result Lists
As you type in search words, three lists of results are updated as you type.

Words.
The topmost list is the “Word List”. This list contains
every unique word found in the Bible you are searching and shows how many times
each word occurs in the Bible. As you type in words to search for, this list
scrolls so that the word most closely matching the word you are typing is
displayed. You can also click on any word in the Word list to display the first
verse containing that word.

Books. This “Books List” displays each Bible book in which search
words are found and how many times the search words occur in each book.

Verses. Displays each verse, in the currently selected “Book List”
book, that contains search results.
Navigating
Search Results
The “Verse Display Window” displays all verses from the selected book that
contain the search words. To display the next book with search results click on
the Next button. Click on the Previous button to display the
previous book with search results. Click the All button to display all
verses containing search results for the entire Bible. You can also click on any
Book in the “Book List” or any verse in the “Verse List” to display specific
search results.
Types of
Searches

Single Words
To search for a single word, type the word into the search field or click on
a word in the "Word List”.

Multiple Words For all types of multiple word searches, type multiple words into the search
field, separated by spaces. The type of search is indicated by selecting one of
the three round buttons, located in top left area of the dialog.
o Phrase
Make sure Phrase is selected then type in multiple
words in the search field separated by spaces. Search results will show where
the phrase is found in the Bible.
o Any
Select Any then type in multiple words. Search
results will show where any of the words are found in the Bible. This type of
search is sometimes referred to as an "OR" search. For example find all verses
containing the first word “or” the second word, etc.
o All
Select All, then click on the
right arrow button next to it to specify the
"range" within which search words should occur. Finds all words typed in the
search field that occur "near" each other. The nearness is determined by
selecting a "range" within which all the search words should occur.
Ranges. Ranges are specified by selecting a range type and a range
size. Select one of the range types: Words,
Verses, or Chapters.
Then select a range size: from In Same to
Within Twenty.
Copy
Verses
Click on the Copy Verses button to copy the verses displayed in the
Verse Display Window onto the windows clipboard. You can then use the Paste
command (Ctrl+V) to Paste the verses into any Word Processor such as Microsoft
Word.
Inserting Search Results into the Editor
Click on the Insert Verses button to copy the verses displayed in the
Verse Display Window into the BibleSpeak Editor. Click on the
right arrow button, to the right of the Insert
Verses button to select the appearance of the inserted verses.

As Plain Text
Verses are inserted as plain text without any color highlighting.

Text with Attributes
Verses retain all the font attributes and highlighting they have in the
Verse Display Window.

As a Table
Inserts verses in the same table format as they appear in the “Verse Display”
Window.
Show
Context - Hide Context
Click on the Options button and select Toggle Context. Shows
or hides the display of context verses. Click on the Options button and
then select Context Size to how large the verses
in context will be.
OK
Closes the dialog.
